La Plata County Humane Society is an open admission shelter and private 501(c)(3) non-profit serving La Plata County in southwest Colorado. LPCHS has been serving our community since 1971! We provide the following services: adoption, animal protection, lost & found, licensing, low-cost spay/neuter, vaccination and microchipping, and free trap-neuter-release for community cats. Each year, we provide shelter, protection, and care for more than 2,000 pets in need and provide low-cost services to another 2,000 owned pets.
Year after year, LPCHS successfully rehomes more than 90% of the animals in our care, earning LPCHS recognition as a no-kill shelter.
Since 2018, we have increased the number of pets served through our low-cost services by 97%!
