Volunteer
Volunteer at La Plata County Humane Society and make a real difference for pets in need! Join our dedicated team providing care and enrichment. Opportunities include animal care, education programs, event support, store assistance, and administrative help. Your contribution is vital in helping homeless and abused animals find their happy tails.
Volunteer Requirements
$25 volunteer application fee. This payment will be done at orientation.
Must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian come with you while volunteering. Minors need to be at least 8 years of age.
Complete a volunteer application and attend a mandatory orientation.
Wear your badge while volunteering.
Bring a positive attitude; your attitude affects the animals in the shelter.

Please complete the volunteer application or come into the shelter. Let us know your area of interest and availability, and we’ll get in touch with you to let you know more about orientation and the training process. (Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. If under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present).
