End-of-Life-Services

We know that losing a companion is overwhelming and difficult. As an organization of animal-lovers, we understand your loss and are here to provide compassionate care before, during and after losing an animal family member. La Plata County Humane Society offers humane euthanasia and cremation services. We are here to listen and help you determine which end-of-life services best suit your needs.

Cremation

We offer private or communal cremation services and do not require an appointment. If you wish to pick up your pet’s cremains, please allow 1-2 weeks. If you do not wish to pick up your pet’s cremains, we will dispose of them respectfully.

Simple Cremation (no cremains returned to owner, LPCHS staff respectfully scatters)

  • Small Animal (50 lbs. and under) – $50

  • Large Animal (50lbs. and over) – $60

Standard Cremation (pet’s cremains returned to owner)

  • Under 30 lbs. – $150

  • 31-60 lbs. – $175

  • 60-89lbs – $200

  • Over 90 lbs. – $225

Our machine is large enough to accommodate up to two 40 lb pets in separate areas, ensuring their ashes do not mix. A private cremation reserves both these spaces for your pet alone.

Private Cremation is an additional $100 (pet’s cremains returned to owner)
