Pet Services

La Plata County Humane Society serves the Four Corners area in southwest Colorado. It is our goal to provide the best and most accessible care for your pets. We provide services such as licensing, affordable spay and neuter programs that help address pet overpopulation, and reuniting hundreds of lost pets with their families. Our humane education programs teach younger generations the importance of kindness and compassion towards all living animals. Each service is designed to help provide your pets essential care and to help you through the different stages and situations of your pet’s life. We are here to help keep your pets healthy and happy so you may enjoy many wonderful years together!

But first…

Before you begin your journey, be sure you can answer “yes” to the questions below:

  • Are you at least 21 years old?

  • Do you have a valid photo ID with current address? (If your current address is not listed on your ID, you will need to provide a current utility bill or payment stub with your name and current address for verification)

  • Do you reside where pets are welcome? (If you rent, landlord approval is required. Find out about pet deposits and fees prior to adopting)

  • Are you able to care for the animal? It is an investment in time and money, so consider feeding, grooming, training, supplies and providing regular veterinary care
