Found an Animal?

Click here to leave a found report online.

If found in La Plata County please bring to LPCHS. We will scan for a microchip and check our lost reports in hopes of finding the owner. If found outside of La Plata County, please take to the nearest shelter. It is likely the animal has not wandered too far off from home and the farther away you take the animal the less likely it is to get back home.

If your plan is to claim ownership of the animal until the owner is found please come by the Humane Society to have the animal scanned for a microchip and leave a found report. Keep in mind that after 72 hours of caring for a stray animal in the State of Colorado you will be considered as the owner. (970)259-2847

You can call Animal Protection to pick up an animal. Animal Protection is contracted to only pick up dogs or injured animals. Call Central Dispatch to make a report. (970)385-2900
