How to Adopt

Guidelines

The decision to add a dog or cat into your life is a very important one. Before you adopt, please consider:

  • Dogs and cats can live for over 12 years.
  • They require attention, fresh food and water, grooming, veterinary care and more.
  • Our animals have certain requirements so please view our adoption guidelines below.
  • If you don't get your first choice of an animal, we keep your application for over 30 days- keep looking!

YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT FROM US

Dog Applications Require:
  • Animal introductions (your dog meets our dog)-no exceptions!
  • If you rent: your Landlord's name and phone number or a copy of your lease/rental agreement
  • A Valid Driver's License and Proof of residence if ID is different.

We do not ship animals. We do not hold animals. We reserve the right to deny any application. Applications are kept for 30 days.

SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS MAY REQUIRE A HOME VISIT:

The shelter strives to find the best home possible for "Special Needs Animals". These are breeds that have a bad reputation for aggression and violence (spun by the media).  This includes breeds such as the "Pit Bull" breeds, Akitas, Doberman Pinchers, Huskies, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, etc.

It is the responsibility of the adoption counselors to screen and approve possible adopters.  Owners of special needs dogs must be devoted defenders of their misunderstood pets.  They make an ideal family member if they are well-trained and socialized, and in an environment where they can positively thrive.

Potential adopters are subject to application process.
